The Sony BDP-S1000ES is an advanced Profile 2.0 CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc player featuring a built-in 802.11n wireless network connection. It can connect to a pre-existing WiFi network, upon which it can access online features.

It lacks the video-on-demand streaming or download services available on the BDP-N460 or BDP-S560, but is able to stream photos directly from any DLNA-compliant device and is BD-Live Profile.20 compatible. As for video processing, the BDP-S1000ES can play Blu-ray discs in full 1080p HD, as well as upscale standard-definition DVD signals into near-HQ quality. It also supports enhanced audio formats from both Dolby and DTS, allowing "lossless" surround-sound with up to 7.1 channels of discerete audio.
