Samsung BD-P1000
$999.00
Released June, 2006
The Pros:Setup and configuration are intuitive, don't need instruction. Blu-ray playback is sharp and clear, very detailed and true to the HD standard. Startup time from standby to watching a movie is less than a minute.
The Cons:One of the first Blu-ray players on the market, lacks a lot of the extras that become common in later models. Upconversion of DVD content doesn't work very well, just seems like stretched SD content. Priced much higher than the average Blu-ray player, this is the "early adopter" price.
The Samsung BD-P1000 is a Profile 1.0 blu-ray player capable of upscaling DVDs to 1080p resolution via HDMI. It was one of the first Blu-ray players ever released. The player features an SD card slot for photo display and MP3 playback.
