The DV-BD606 is a midrange Blu-ray Disc player from Onkyo. This player supports Blu-ray’s profile 1.1 only, meaning BD-Live features on movies are not supported. DivX files can be played via DVD or CD. On the back panel the user has access to HDMI, component, composite and stereo outputs. This unit includes an optical digital audio and coaxial port enabling higher quality sound. The DV-BD-606 lacks multichannel audio outputs; therefore users with receivers that do not process HDMI will only be able to use standard Dolby Digital/DTS sound. Reviewers agree that the picture and sound quality is exceptional, but is not quite as good as some higher-end players. This Blu-ray player also upscales DVDs to 1080p, and includes a remote control. Those who are looking for a Blu-ray player, but do not require features such as BD-Live or multichannel audio should find this player to be more than acceptable.
