Like the DVD-2500, the DVD-3800 will output lossless dts-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD, and raw 7.1 PCM bitstreams, but unlike the DVD-3800 it will decode dts-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD that can be output to the 7.1 line-level analog outputs. For CD audio, there is a pure direct mode that shuts down all non-essential circuitry for audio-only playback.
